The Signs
So if any part of the Kala-Purusha was afflicted at birth, the corresponding part of the native's body would be afflicted. Just as the theory is applied to the birth-chart by commencing from Aries, so also is it applied for commencing from the first house or the ascendant (the sign rising). Here the correspondence of various houses to the different parts of the body is as follows:
House Head
House Face (including the neck)
House Head (top portion)
House Face (including the neck).
House Neck, upper portion of the chest and arms.
(some include throat in 3rd house)
House Heart, breasts, portion above the stomach
House The stomach, portion above the navel
House Part below navel and above Basti
House Basti
House Genitals, anus
House Thighs, hips
House The two knees, back
House Calves of legs
House Feet
If any house is afflicted, the corresponding part of the body will suffer. If any house is strong, the corresponding parts of the body will be strong. We have explained this fully and need not reiterate.

The physical appearance of the twelve signs is as follows:
Aries, a ram; Taurus a bull; Gemini, a couple of human beings-the male holding a club in his hand and the female holding a Veena*; cancer a crab; Leo, a lion; Virgo, a girl in a boat holding a sheaf of corn in one hand and a fire in the other; Libra, a man holding scales in his hand; Scorpio a Scorpion; Sagittarius, a man with a bow and arrow in hand riding a horse or in other words, the first half a man the latter half a horse; Capricorn, the first half representing the head of a deer, the latter half a crocodile; Aquarius, a man holding an empty pitcher on his shoulder; Pisces, two fish with their heads pointing to in opposite directions.

In western astrology, Rahu is described as the north node of the Moon or Caput Draconis, and Ketu as the south node of the Moon or Cauda Draconis. But as Rahu and Ketu are shorter words, we shall use them throughout this book.

The lordships of signs have already been given.
